Live Edge Slabs

Live Edge Slabs

“Live edge wood is so unique because it shows a cross section slice of a tree and gives clues about its time on earth; it offers a reference to the timeline of events that have occurred in the history of our land and our people. We hope you’ll be inspired…” – Merle Adams

At Big Timberworks, we carefully choose our slabs and inventory uniquely sourced pieces to be made into one of a kind designs. We carry native softwoods, sourced hardwoods, and burls from various parts of the United States and British Columbia. Currently we have slabs of Douglas Fir, Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, Western Yellow Cedar, Redwood, White Oak, Black Walnut, Ash, Western Larch and White Pine. Typically we stock pieces that range from 2′-20′ long of various widths ranging from 12″ up to 56″, and 2″-4″ thick.

All of our lumber is air-dried for a year and then kiln dried to ensure the highest quality of lumber for any use; this allows it to retain a stable shape and character when worked with. Our slabs have been used all over the country for tables, headboards, wall hangings, bar tops, and much more.

Please take a look at our Live Edge Gallery website of the slabs we inventory and pieces we’ve made. All slabs can be provided to you in raw form, finished, or incorporated into a larger design. Please call us or come visit our slab shop where you can browse our selection of slabs to find the perfect piece to suit your needs. We look forward to working with you to add a unique design to your home.
